Tuscarora
Tuscarora began as a mining camp for the Mt. Blitzen mining district, and had a post office by July, 1871. Named by John Beard, who brought the name Tuscarora from the "hemp gatherers" of North Carolina [Carlson, 1974, pp. 236]. The mines produced about $40 million in silver between 1870 - 1890. Population was ~4,000.
